These terms apply when you use the It’s My Story website and services, create a story, or order a book from us. Please read them with our privacy policy and returns & refunds policy.

• You must be 18 or over to create an account. Children can enjoy It’s My Story with a parent, carer or teacher who manages the account and stays with them while they use it.
• Keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
• Give us accurate details, especially your email address and delivery address.

Stories, illustrations and narration are created with the help of artificial intelligence from the ideas and details you give us. AI can make mistakes: pictures may not look exactly like the people they are based on, and words may not be exactly what you intended.

Please read every page before you order. We print your book exactly as it appears in your approved preview, so check names, spellings and pictures carefully.

Creating and previewing stories is free, within reasonable limits that help us keep the service running for everyone.

• You keep the rights to the ideas, words and photos you give us.
• Only upload photos and details you have the right to use. If a photo shows someone else, you must have their permission, or their parent’s or carer’s permission if they are a child.
• You give us permission to use your content only to create, store, show, print and deliver your stories, and to provide support.
• Don’t create content that is unlawful, hateful, sexual, violent, bullying, or that infringes anyone else’s rights. We may remove such content and close accounts that misuse the service.

• Books you create are for your personal use: to read, give as gifts and share with family and friends.
• Organisations may use books as agreed with us in writing, for example as classroom or session resources.
• Selling a book you have written through our marketplace is coming soon; separate terms will be agreed with each creator before a book goes on sale.
• The It’s My Story name, logo, website design and the extra pages we add to each book belong to us.

• Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. Printed books include free tracked UK delivery.
• Your order is accepted when we confirm it by email. Payments are taken securely by our payment provider at checkout.
• If we have shown a price in error, we’ll contact you before going ahead.
• We aim to print and dispatch your book promptly; see delivery information for usual timescales.

Because every book is personalised, the usual 14-day right to cancel does not apply once your order has been made, and digital PDFs cannot be returned once you have started to download them. Your legal rights for faulty or damaged goods are not affected. See returns & refunds.

We provide our services with reasonable care and skill. If we fail to keep to these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of that failure, up to the amount you paid for the order concerned.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

We may occasionally pause the service for maintenance or improvements. We’ll try to keep any interruption short.

We may update these terms from time to time. We’ll tell you about important changes by email before they apply to you.

You can close your account at any time by emailing [email protected]. Please download any books you want to keep first.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. If something goes wrong, please talk to us first; we’ll always try to put it right.
